Donna Smith Obituary

Donna McMullen Allen Smith YORKTOWN, VA - Donna McMullen Allen Smith, 83, of Yorktown, VA, went to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, August 3, 2018, after a brief illness. She was a native of Washington, D.C, but also formerly resided in Vidalia, LA and Summerville, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Angie Everett McMullen of Barboursville, VA; her first husband, James P. Allen of Frederick, MD; her second husband, Reverend Ellis O. Smith of Ferriday, LA; and two nieces, Amy McIntyre, of Charlotte, NC and Katherine Michelle Allen of Baton Rouge, LA. Donna is survived by her brother, William H. McMullen, Jr. and his wife (Kaye McIntyre) of Charlotte, NC; nephew Alan McIntyre (Sarah Rowe) of Andover, NH; and by her four sons, Phillip J. Allen (Toni Callender) of Monroeville, AL, David W. Allen (Lt. Col. retired Jan Mixson) of Yorktown, VA, Douglas M. Allen (Tamara Daugherty) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Paul E. Allen (Sarah Atkinson) of Goose Creek, SC; and former daughter-in-law Marlene Amadee Allen of Baton Rouge, LA. Step-children include Jerrell Smith (Jean), of West Monroe, LA, Brenda Smith Barton (Jackie), of Pineville, LA, Butch Smith (Trisha) of Calhoun, LA, Mary Smith Tipton, (Guy), of Lake Charles, LA and Amanda Smith Andrews (Rick) of Pineville, LA. Donna was blessed with an extended blended family of 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Donna demonstrated her love of music as a pianist, organist, singer, school music teacher and choir director. A desire to serve others led her to become a registered nurse at age 42, and she continued working in hospitals and as an educator for the next 25 years. Dedicated to missions, she had the privilege of serving on a medical mission trip to Honduras in 1985, and was a volunteer/leader in the Women's Missionary Union groups at Parkway Baptist Church, Natchez, MS and Crowfield Baptist Church, Goose Creek, SC. She will be buried at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, VA at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the WMU or Disaster Relief of the Southern Baptist Convention.
