Donna Kinnear Obituary
SMITHFIELD VALLEY - Donna Kinnear, 59 of Smithfield Valley,NY died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Sharon Hospital, Sharon,Ct.
Born in Brooklyn on August 22, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Shirley Manheim. She attended Lennox School, Rosemary Hall in Greenwich, Ct., Bard College at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington ,Ma. and Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville,NY. where she earned her Master's Degree in History. Her thesis, written in 1992 which she was very
proud of, was a book about Tacitus, a historian and senator of the Roman Empire.
Donna has been a resident of Smithfield Valley since 1994 and was active in the Dutchess County Historical Society, the Sandanona Harehounds and was instrumental in returning the Millbrook Hunt Library to Millbrook from Mercy College with the assistance of Farnum Collins.
She enjoyed riding, beagling, travel, history and the beautiful Smithfield Valley.
Donna is survived by her aunt and uncle, Jackie and Edward Krieder of Ohio.
A memorial service will be held 1 pm Saturday, October 20 at Smithfield Presbyterian Church, 656 Smithfield Valley Rd., Amenia,NY. Interment will be in Smithfield Cemetery at the family's convenience.
Memorial donations may be made in Donna's memory to Dutchess Land Conservancy, P.O. Box 138, Millbrook,NY 12545.

Hard to believe Donna is gone this long. Feels like yesterday that she would call and we'd discuss local history. She fun and ready to work for the DCHS. Praying you are riding with the best equestrians in history! Eternal peace, Donna. You deserve it.

I miss Donna for our great conversations about local history and for her charming wit and generous heart. I'm sure she's riding daily and perhaps with Jackie O, sharing afternoon tea and stories. Peace and blissful rest, my friend.
