Donald Wright Obituary

WRIGHT, Donald Frederick Age 75, of Sunset Beach, NC died Friday, April 4, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Don was born in Newton, MA and grew up in Malden, MA. He was a graduate of Curry College in Milton, MA. Donald was employed in the insurance industry in the cities of Boston, Worcester, Springfield, MA and Washington, DC. In 1979, he was transferred to Greenville, SC and lived in Mauldin, SC until 1995, when he retired to Sunset Beach.Donald was always an active leader in civic, church, and professional life. He was a Little League Coach, a Deacon, Claims Manager of the Year in 1989, President of the Claims Management Association of SC, and served on the Board of the Sea Trail Property Owners Association.A passion for music wove throughout his life. From the piccolo, to his love of playing the piano and his Tenor voice, his passion for music was always shared with his family, friends, and community. Until his death, he was a member of the choir at Shallotte Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Sea Trail Songbirds.Don played an integral part of so many lives on so many levels. His absence will be deeply felt; his warmth and talent will be sorely missed. Surviving are his wife, Jan Lawson Wright; sons, John Leonard Wright, Donald Fredrick Wright, Jr., and Russell Edward Wright; daughters-in-laws, Kathy Craven Wright and Birley Hedgepath Wright; brother, Alan Wright; sister, Muriel Wright Saunders, and seven grandchildren, Gregory, Jessica, Casey, Ali, Matthew, Perry Lynn and Baylis. He was predeceased by his first wife Marilyn Leonard Wright. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 7th, at Shallotte Presbyterian Church by the Reverend John Causey. The family will receive friends and family immediately following the service.Another service will be held at 2:00 PM, April l8th, at Harwich United Methodist Church, 1 Church Street, East Harwich, MA.
