Donald Thornton Obituary

Donald Elbert Thornton, Sr. "Don" WEST COLUMBIA - Donald Elbert "Don" Thornton, Sr., 72, of West Columbia, SC, retired owner and operator of T & T Construction died Sunday evening in a Lexington nursing home. His funeral will be 11:00 AM Friday morning, December 11, 2009, in St. John's Baptist Church, Pinopolis. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church following the service on Friday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Congaree Baptist Church Building Fund, 101 Pine Ridge Drive, West Columbia, SC 29172. Directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Mr. Thornton was born July 21, 1937, in Newberry, SC, a son of William Everett Thornton and Elizabeth Cothran Thornton. He was a member of the Congaree Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a member of The Fishers of Men Sunday School Class. He was a graduate of Greenville High School. Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Anne Boltinhouse and a sister, Peggy Thornton Brown. Surviving are his wife, Ola Anne Jones Thornton; two daughters, Donna Ann Thornton and Jennifer Thornton Boltinhouse both of West Columbia; a son, Donald Elbert Thornton, Jr., of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Sheldon Thornton Taylor, Jarred Douglas Boltinhouse, William Blaine Thornton, and Joshua Orr Thornton; and one great grandchild, Ethan S.
