Dear Smith Family, Donnie is my first cousin. The last time I saw Donnie was at his mother's funeral. My memories of Donnie, Jerry and Jackie are when we were very young in Eldorado. They were great kids and we had fun even in hard times (which was always). My belated Sympathy to his family. I was out of town and just got the email this AM. Love to all, Jack Reid

Donnie was my first cousin. The day of my fathers funeral, Donnie had driven all night to get to Florida to be with us. He never told us he was coming. What a joy to have him there - he always made you laugh. The last time I saw him, Barry, my husband, my son John, and my mother LaWanda (Sue) met Donnie and Lil at a Cracker Barrel for lunch and we visited for about 3 - 4 hours. We all had a wonderful time. That was the last time I saw him. It was also the last time we got some great pictures of Mother, Donnie, and Lil.

He always made me feel special. I did not know him as a child. I am thankful I knew him as an adult.

I am so glad that he is not in pain.

Lil, you will be in our prayers.

Our hearts are sad with the passing of Donnie, yet we rejoice that Donnie has made it home safe in the arms of his Heavenly Father. He was blessed with a loving, caring wife that I love, and appreciate very much. Her unselfish care for Donnie is an example for all.

I will miss him as will all of his family and friends. Aunt Sue

I am Donald's uncle and there is just a few months difference in our ages. We were born and grew up in Eldorado, IL in an area of Southern Illinois known as "Little Egypt".

As kids we were more like brothers and I have many wonderful memories of good times together. After his military service he served several years as an air traffic controller and never returned to Southern IL.

As kids we attended the Church of God Sunday School, and he married into a wonderful Christian family in later years. My love and prayers are with Lil and family, and I am sure Donnie is already enjoying reunions with those in our family who helped him cross over.

Donnie, I am so happy that you are now at peace and "I'll see you at the house".

Donald will forever be a part of my heart. I didn't know him that long, but he is someone that left a lasting impression on me. He had such a sweet way about him, and the most tender eyes. I wish I had met him sooner. And Lill, you were so strong for him. The love you two had for each other was wonderful to see. I will miss him very much. Take care of yourself Lill. You are precious cargo. xoxoxo
