Donald was born on October 1, 1933, in Florence, SC, son of the late Soloman and Eunice Knight Nettles. He married the love of his life, Doris Nettles on November 10, 1989, and they spent the rest of their lives together. He was a huge fan of the Clemson Tigers, especially during football season, and golfing with his friends. Donald dedicated part of his life to serving our great nation, he joined the United States Navy right after high school. Following his service, he began his career in law enforcement, employed as a Highway Patrolman for 25 plus years! Most of all, Donald was a devoted husband; his late wife Doris was his priority, and she came before anything else. He was a much beloved father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. I first met Don in 1962. He was a friend of my Little League coach, Kenneth McClure. Don gave me a couple of breaks when he caught me driving a bit fast/reckless. He was a man I looked up to and admired.
I'm sure he will be missed by many.
