After I was saved I found out about a guy who wanted to start a Christion Band. I agreed to meet with him. He was standing on the side of the road waiting for me. I picked him up and we went to his Aunt's house. We picked at a few songs and the band "New Life" was created. We played all over the place worshiping God with our music. Once while driving to a very small church we were talking about names for Christian bands. I said, "the grateful dead in Christ." The band spared me from being heaved out and left on the side of the road. Good times. Thank you, Lord, for the time I was given with Gene.

I have been friends with Gene and played music with him for over 30 years. He was the definition of what a true friend is, truly one of a kind. He was a great guy. His music and singing will be missed but much more than that, his friendship. See you one day again Gene.
