Donald Fylstra Obituary

I am forever grateful for Dr.Fylstra!!!! I thought I would never have children. Together my partner, Dr.Fylstra and I came up with a plan. A little over a year later, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. I LOVED MY DOCTOR!!! MAY GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY TODAY AND ALWAYS!!!

Wow, I cannot believe you have passed away. My baby was one of your last deliveries before retirement. You were awesome and I have not been able to find a Doctor as knowledgeable as you were. My God continue to keep your family lifted and may you forever rest in paradise. Your work here is done.

Dr. Fylstra´s Family:
Ann and I just learned of Dr. Fylstra´s death and extend to you our deepest condolences. He worked with Ann and myself through 4 miscarriages and our first son was a twin, with the paternal twin being miscarried early in the pregnancy. Though his expert medical care and excellent bedside manner, we did have our first son followed 20 1/2 months later by the birth of our second son. Ann had her hysterectomy in Charleston years later and he was still the same caring doctor. May the peace and love of Christ comfort you in this time of loss and in the coming months. May your minds and hearts burn brightly with your favorite memories of him. We not only liked him but considered him an integral part of our family. Thank you for sharing him with us. Rest in Peace, Dr. Fylstra. You will forever be in our family and in our memories.

Don was a classmate at Vanderbilt. He was kind and had a good sense of humor. He was one of the few who had a plan, but none of us could have predicted what we would experience as physicians. Don served our country, practiced as an Ob-Gyn in the community, and made the rare transition back to an academic center at the Medical University of South Carolina. I am sure he made a lasting impact on patients, colleagues, residents, and students. Don will be missed by all of us who were fortunate to have known him. My condolences to Patty, his daughters, family, and friends.

Donald was a wonderful husband, father and outstanding physician who shared his time, talents and treasures with all those around him. He was an inspiration in my own journey in medicine. He will be sadly missed by all.

It was my privilege to know Don as my classmate at Vanderbilt. He was always upbeat and often entertaining! I am saddened to learn of his passing. My deepest sympathy to those who knew and loved him. We will miss Don very much.

Dr. Fylstra was admired and loved by so many. I remember his reassuring bedside manner and charming smile. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Oh, so saddened to learn of Dr FYLSTRA´s passing. He was my favorite. Performed an innovative hysterectomy for me in late 80s. Heartfelt sympathy to all the family.

Charles and me always enjoyed his presence and i will never forget the wonderful times we spent together at their beautiful home , drinking the best of wines and playing with their mischievous dog . Pat , although I am Farc away , please know that I am very near your heart and can be in Charleston for whatever you might need . I love you and will always do

Don and Patty, I can't believe it. Don was a wonderful colleague at MUSC. He was my OBGYN and delivered my son Tristan on 12/3/2004. I wanted to have don for my OBGYN because he was the best surgeon and I knew I would need a C section! He was a wonderful physician, mentor and friend. These pictures are from the summer of 2019 when we visited Patty and Don at their beautiful home. I will never forget one time at MUSC, I was in the OR and the case was difficult. Of course I called Don and he came in while and helped me out - while he was getting his chemo through this little device on his hip. It beeped and I was like "OMG! you're getting chemo and you came to help me!" He was such an amazing doctor. He loved his girls and grandbabies! I will miss you so much.

One of the best gynecologist I have worked beside. As a sonographer, I learned a lot from him. Sending comfort and prayers to his family.

We are sorry to hear of Donald's passing. I regret that Covid separated us after we moved to S.C. We are grateful for the times we shared. We love spending time with Donald including enjoying working together, having several sailing adventures, and spending time just being in your presence. Remembering who you are and continue to be.
