Eagle family,
I got to know Don a bit as a Loadmaster in another squadron and thought alot of him. Looking through the words already written, truer words cannot be spoken. He left shoes to big for most of us to fill. God speed Don, maybe I can ride with you on the other side some day. TSgt Gus HQ/AMC

To Don's family and friends. My wife and I send our deepest prayers to you. I knew Don from Charleston. He was someone I respected. He led by example and loved life. A couple of my fondest memories were the decorating of Bob Austin's office after Bob graduated with honors from a Navy Senior NCO Acadamy and the care package he put together for the squadron when it was deployed. He was a mentor, leader and friend. Many people have come into my life and I could not tell you their name, but Don Eagle is a name I will always remember. Because he was that type of person. May God give you peace as only he can give.

Eagle Family, my sincere condolences for your loss. I was stationed with Don @ McGuire AFB many years ago. I have many fun memories of working on his old truck & taking part on the annual “Man-Cations” as he called it; a bunch of men going on a vacation to camp, fish, tell war stories & bond. Don was always the one with the biggest smile on his face. I am thankful I knew him & that I can look back and smile when I think of all the great times we had.

Bonita and Eagle family, my sincerest condolences. As Don’s Supervisor in the 18th Airlift Squadron, McGuire Air Force Base I was impressed by Don’s ambition, excitement for life and genuine goal to be the best Airman in our unit. He challenged us from time to time with his exuberance and was definitely a key contributor to our Loadmaster force and mission. I followed Don’s career and was pleased that he transitioned to the C-17 Globemaster; the future was his. Don will always be in my memory. As a supervisor I felt many times more as a father figure than as a boss. Don accepted my advice and grew as a fine young man. Our prayers and God’s love be with you now. Remember Don’s journey made a difference, we are all better for knowing him.

Don Eagle Family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow. Don will always be remembered for his undying love and compassion for his fellow Airmen. When I arrived at the 17th Airlift Sq as the new First Sergeant, my commander said if I wanted to know what was going on with everyone in the squadron, ask MSgt Eagle. Don always did everything in his power to help those in need and he never failed to put a smile on someone's face. I could always count on Don to fill in for me and be the voice of reason in any situation. He was a man of sincere conviction, dedication beyond measure, and a true friend. He made my job and my life a lot better. He lived life to the fullest and taught us to cherish every moment. May the grace of God keep you in His favor...always.

Bonita and Family, our prayers are with you all as you mourn the loss of Don. When I first saw Don in the hospital I recall searching for words to lift his spirit. Ironically, it was my spirit being lifted as he shared his feelings with me. He said God spared him for a reason. I saw that reason unfold as I watched you by his side, sharing a love and bond so close that few sibling could ever experience. You were and will always be Don's Guardian Angel. Please take comfort in the fact that you helped him prepare for the day that he was to become a spiritual angel himself. Don will now be watching over you, with the same tenderness and love that you showed him. Although it may not seem so now but God has blessed Don for a job "Well Done". Don has touched more lives and left a lasting footprint in more hearts than you can ever imagine. For those that he has touched, we will forever carry the fond memories of his quick wit and gentle spirit. I know that the tender moments you have shared with Don these past couple of years will strengthen you in your time of sorrow. Hang on to them, just as we all will hang on to ours, to keep him close in our hearts. Thank you for your selfless courage and for being Don's Guadian Angel. I wish you and your family Godspeed.
