To Don's Family,
I was so shocked when I heard the news today 4/18/08 that Don had passed away. I met Don when I worked at Stuhr's Funeral Home and he was fun to be around and it was nice to work with him. I know that he has gone on to be with our Lord and that he'll be one of those greeting us in at the Pearly Gates - shaking our hands and congratulating us on coming into the Master's house. May our God put his arms around you all, keep your spirits lifted up, and give you peace that only he can give you. Yes we're sad but we should rejoice for Don, he's in heaven with the Master and Jesus now. We should be celebrating his homegoing with great joy.
I'm glad I got to know him during the time I did. God Bless all of you.

Tina,
I just heard about you'r fathers passing. I am so sorry for your loss.
My heart brakes for you and you'r family. I didnt know your dad personally, but I remember him from the funeral home. He was there when I buried my infant daughter Chelsea. I think I may have told you this before. We were at her grave site and I looked over at him, he was standing there wiping his eyes. It touched me. My family commented on how many funerals he must have attended and my babys tiny white coffin must have pulled at his heart strings. I didnt know him, but that was was how I felt that day. My eyes fill with tears just thinking about it. God bless you and you'r family. If you need anything or just want to talk, I am here for you.
Love,
Belinda & Chandler Cook

I am so surprised at your passing, Don. You were way too young and even though it has been a long time, you looked healthy when I last saw you.
When I worked at Stuhr's North Area, you would quietly walk in the back door and scare the living daylights out of me at the desk! I always called you "Lurch" from the Adam's Family TV show!
One thing about Don, if he buried you, he remembered you. I'm sure many will remember you for years and years to come
I pray that you rest in peace and that your family will be comforted during this sad time.

To The DeRosa Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very sad time.
Donald I'm so happy we had the DeRosa reunion, because it was the last time we were together and we had lots of fun talking about the family. I truly enjoyed you and your daughters when you came to visit me when you were in Connecticut.
You will be greatly missed, may God Bless you and keep you safe in his hands.

Don had a way of making everyone feel welcome and special.
I remember standing with him in front of the church when a homeless man came up to us - Don put his hand on the man's shoulder and talked with him for awhile, took out his wallet, gave him money and shook his hand.
I am a better person because I had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be greatly missed.

I've got so many memories of Don, and over the last few days, many have come to me. Many years ago, I had to write an English paper for school, and it was suggested that I do it on the funeral industry. Don took the time to help me and it led to a rewarding job working with Don and Stuhr’s. As previously said, Don's ability to recall families that he served is amazing. A walk through a cemetery with him was very informative, as he could tell you everything you could ever want to know.

I will forever hold a place in my heart for Don. He sang at my wedding, he was there when a good friend was taken too soon. To Donna, Tena, Josh, Michaela and Alexis, your Dad was a GREAT man, and you should all be very proud of him.

To my good friend and Carlisle Alumni, Class of 1966. I have many good memories of Don from those days at Carlisle and those that followed. He will be missed but his good not forgotten.

Don hired me in 1988 to maintain the grounds at Stuhr's Northwoods' and North Area Chapel. One of my first contracts. He was always kind and fun to be around. I will definitely miss his quick wit. Thanks, Don ----with sympathy to his family, Robert Platt

I have been a friend of the DeRosa Family for many years. Don's Momma taught SundaySchool with my Mom for over 25 years. Don was always helpful in so many ways . I will surely miss him and I always gave him a hard time about putting a skirt around a casket at the church, it added a finished touch no matter what the price of the casket was. I know his Mom is happy to have him home with her again. My deepest sympathy to all the family.

Don was my room-mate at Carlisle('64-'65), and he buried my Dad. He's on my mind often, even though we didn't stay in touch to much. I will very much miss him.

Double D,

I vividly remember meeting you at the Coastal Carolina Fairgrounds in the commercial exhibits with your vault display and etc. It was through that chance meeting that I asked you to introduce me to Sandy Stuhr Sr., and as you know, my direction in life was forever changed through the formation of Charleston Trigard. You played a big part in that. You even drove me around and explained each cemetery to me as we prepared to open up. I was amazed at your ability to recall specifics of so many people you served as we passed grave after grave. It was obvious funeral service was your life's passion.
I remember your mother's funeral and how you showed confidence in our product lines (when other's didn't) by using them with your own family. That meant so much to us.
Thanks for all the help you gave us young up-starts! You will forever be part of Charleston Trigard.

Respectfully,
Bobby and Steve
