Donald Barfield Obituary

Donald "Donnie" Barfield Moncks Corner - It is with great sadness that the family of Donald McLeod Barfield announce his passing on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the age of 65. Donald (Donnie) was born on April 30, 1957 in Sumter, South Carolina to Joseph and Katherine Barfield. During Donnie's life he held many titles, including North Charleston Fireman, North Charleston Police Reserve Officer, Coach and Commissioner for the North Charleston Recreation Department and Mason. But the title he was most proud of was the title of friend to everyone he met. He never knew a stranger and was always ready to help those in need. Donnie retired from Ben Arnold Beverage Company and was a huge sports fan. He was a diehard Carolina Gamecock Fan and always believed in his Atlanta Braves. As a young boy you could always find him fishing at his favorite fishing hole or raising pigeons, which was a hobby he enjoyed for years. Donnie also loved animals, his precious cats, Skillet, Gage and Dale were his companions. Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Katherine Barfield and his beloved little brother, William (Butch} Barfield. Donnie is survived by his son, Donald Scott Barfield (Helen) of Summerville, two brothers Ricky Barfield (Brenda) of Moncks Corner, Ed Barfield (Dawn) of Givhans, a sister Kathi Barfield DuCharme of St. George and his precious sister-in-law, Laurie Peek Barfield of North Charleston, and a special and dear friend Tammy Barfield Dehay. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and his beautiful granddaughter, Jaylee Kate Barfield. A Celebration of Donnie's life will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home at 11am. Family will be accepting visitors from 10am until 11am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charleston Animal Society, North Charleston, SC in Donnie's memory. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

Donnie was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was so kind to my son Jimmy and supported him during a difficult time in his life. He will be missed, and I want to say, "Thank you, Donnie for all you did!"
