This is such sad news especially for a great guy like Brett. We spent many long hours together on a crime scene in the middle of nowhere, and he always had a smile on his face, and we loved to share stories about the great outdoors. My sincere prayers to his loving family and friends.

It was an honor to have crossed paths with Brett through our times together at SLED. He seemed to always smile even during the tough times. He was a friend and I will miss him. RIP Brett........

I had the honor of knowing Brett from a young age in the Lexington school system. We were friends and team mates, and graduated Lexington High together in 1987. Our senior year Brett was the offensive captain of the football team and I was the defensive captain. We had a great team and Brett was an amazing leader and a force to be reckoned with as a fullback. He, of course, went on to play at Western Carolina. Brett was always kind, funny, and hard working. He will surely be greatly missed by so many. Rest in Peace my friend.

I am so sorry for the Baker family. I think of all the stories I have with him from high school and it makes me smile. I was an offensive lineman and blocked for him. If you did not get out of his way you were going to have a problem. He ran through the holes like a freight train. Baker was a machine that did not take no for an answer. He was a great friend and player. Long live number 85.
Thank you,
Christopher Berry. Offensive Guard #62.
