Don Butler Obituary

Don Butler SUMMERVILLE - LCDR Dorniece "Don" Butler US Navy (Ret.), 85 years of age, of Summerville, SC, passed away on 11/27/2023. Dr. Butler's wife, Dolores C. Butler, son, Thomas Sullivan, and daughter in law, Barbara Sullivan, preceded him in homegoing. Dr. Butler was born June 23, 1938 in Colmesneil, Texas. Son of CL and Dovearie (Gilder) Butler. He was a member of New Vision Cathedral at the time of his passing. Dr. Butler was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, retired principal of Charleston County School District, and retired college professor. Survivors include his two granddaughters, Kaysee Sullivan and Constance Sullivan with son-in-law, Oscar Gutierrez.Great-grandchildren: Jerell Sullivan-Brown, Sebastian Gutierrez, and Elliot Gutierrez. Surviving siblings include Sharon McDaniel, Frankie Hordge, Michael Butler, Sr, and Charles Butler and a host of other relatives and friends. Siblings that preceded him in death are Delores Durham, JC Butler, Lawrence E. Butler, Eloise Bean, Eddie Butler, and Minnie Collins. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Friday, December 8th from 6 o'clock to 8 o'clock at New Vision Cathedral in Lincolnville, SC. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9th at 12 o'clock at New Vision Cathedral, 128 W. Hamilton St, Lincolnville, SC. Burial will be held at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC.
