Dolores Stone Obituary

Dolores Thompson Stone SUMMERVILLE - Dolores Thompson Stone of Summerville, S.C., passed away at Greenville Memorial Hospital on January 20, 2011. She was the daughter of Montine Thompson of Simpsonville, SC, and the late William Wallace Thompson. She graduated from Erskine College, Due West, SC, with a degree in Music Education. She spent her career as a school music teacher working at St. John's Parish School in Tampa, Florida, Ware Shoals Public School System, Savannah Georgia Public School System, Summerville Elementary and Knightsville Elementary in Summerville,SC She was active in the education sorority Alpha Delta Kappa, Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. How her family fit in the historical picture was a passion for her. Dolores was predeceased in death by her husband of 54 years, Gary Pruitt Stone. She is survived by her 100 year old mother Montine Thompson of Simpsonville, SC.; sister, Jennie (Gary) Ray of Greenville,SC; brother-in-law Charles (Annette) Stone of Donalds,SC, sister-in-law Dollie Rice of Latta, SC; sister-in-law Jane Stone, Donalds, SC. She is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews: Dollie Catherine Morrell, Michael and Andrew Ray, Margaret Ann Scott, Gary Stone, Michael Stone and Melanie Watson. Great nieces and nephews are: Austin and Chandler Morrell, Jacob and Audrey Ray, Wallace and Sadie Ray, Stone Scott, Tegan Stone, Michael, Daniel, John and Amy Stone, Maggie and Ellie Watson. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, January 23, 2011, at one o'clock at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 W. 3rd South Street, Summerville, SC, on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church Music Ministry, 118 West 3rd South Street, Summerville, S.C. 29483 or to Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, c/o Dot Sullivan, 1081 Dairy Rd., Ware Shoals, S.C. 29692. The family will be at the home of Jennie Ray 106 Boulder Road, Greenville, S.C., and will receive friends after the service. PARKER-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, WARE SHOALS, SC, in charge of arrangements. Aunt Doe, we will miss you so much, you were always there for everyone, thank you so much for all the times you were there for us. We Loved you and Uncle Gary so much and had so much fun with you. Mrs. Stone was my music teacher when I came through Summerville Elementary School in the early 1970's, and I also grew up a member of Bethany UMC, so I knew her from church as well. So sorry to learn of her passing.
