Dear Mrs. Beckmann: My wife Diana and I were so sorry to hear about Dieter. Dieter did a lot of work on our house at 87 South Battery and always did a great and thorough job. He also recently worked on a house at Vanderhorst for Diana and I believe you were involved on this one as well. Dieter was a wonderful person and a friend. we will both miss him. Dear Ushi and family, I am very sad to hear of Dieter's passing. I played for him with the Charlestowne Lightning and at Bishop England High. He even took us to Europe and I will never forget all the memories. Soccer has given me much of what I have and I credit Dieter with a big part of that. He was great to play for and I will never forget him.

Ushi, I was deeply saddened by the passing of Dieter. His legacy of what he meant to the growth and development of soccer in the Lowcountry and more importantly to the people whose lives he touched will live on. To this day, I still check out how Armenia Bielefeld is doing when I look at the Bundesliga. My heart is with you today.

Dear Ushi,
I am very saddened after hearing of the passing of Dieter. I suppose in retrospect that we do not realize the impact that coaches have on our lives until many years later. As an adult now with teenage children I realize the awesome influence that coaches have on my children. I remember the numerous times that Dieter would come by my house and pick me up for practice when I did not have a ride. How many coaches do you know that would do that? I use the lessons that Coach Dieter taught me on the soccer field in my work and home life. He and you Ushi were very kind to me as a young man and I want you to know that I look back with great fondness and appreciation for all that both you did for me.

It is with great sadness to hear of Dieter’s passing. I owe my love of coaching youth soccer to one of the best tactical soccer coaches and a fine gentleman. Dieter was inspirational in the lives of the boys he coached. My sons carry that love of the game and have passed it to their sons. He may have passed but he never will be forgotten. I am sure God will have a place for his talents as a youth coach and building trades. May God’s peace be with his family.
