Dicksie Johnson Obituary

Will be missed ! Had her name in our bulletin on All Saints Day

I was very sad to read of Dicksie's passing. I was her carpet cleaner for about 18 years and last visited her in the Spring just before I retired. She always greeted me with a cheerful attitude and stories of what her kids were up to. I teased her when she first brought home Snickers. I told her she just gave me job security. She had more energy than anyone I know. As soon as I would arrive, she would gather the kids and head for the beach, run errands, go jogging, etc. Francis, you are your family are in our prayers and we send our sincere condolences.

While I only met Dicksie a few times, she always brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. Generous, kind, caring and compassionate are just a few of the words that come to mind when I recall those times we were together, but the greatest compliment I can bestow on her is that she raised four amazing children and married an amazing man that I have the highest admiration. Her legacy will flow through them and their children in the future. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

Fran - I am so very sorry to hear about Dicksie. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I will forever remember her very special smile.

I am so sorry to hear about Dicksie's passing. I grew up on Sullivan's Island and have the best memories of Dicksie and Fran. Honestly, my recollection from our beach childhood is that I rarely saw one without the other! On behalf of my family, we send our deepest condolences and prayers.

When Dicksie was in the room, it was a wonderful, happy room. Lovely, glamorous Dicksie, taken from us too early. Your four wonderful children are a credit to you and they will pick up and run with your legacy.
So sorry to the entire extended Family for your loss.

About 5th grade at Ashley Hall, Dicksie showed up at school wearing a pair of boy's pants. Khakis, she called them. I'll be darned if within a year or so, everybody from lower school through high school wasn't wearing them! I just always assumed, it was some trend Dicksie had started. But that's just the way she was... a trendsetter. Much admired, often imitated... and never forgotten.

I wanted to express my sincere condolences to the entire family. Dr. Rebecca Baird is my doctor and friend. She is the most incredible doctor. I am blessed to have her as my physician. While I did not know her sister, I wanted to extend my sympathy to her and to all who loved her.
My husband passed from cancer when I was 54 years old and the shock and deep loss of losing a loved one is such a difficult time. Please know you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you remember all your precious memories and hold them dear to your heart.

Dicksie was a constant part of my childhood. At Kanuga always running down to get on the ark, helping me babysit all my little brothers, trying to make me better at tennis and my trying to teach her the butterfly stroke...Kanuga memories are mixed with Dicksie, all the Gregories, the Houcks, etc..Gosh, she was fun and I am so sorry she is no longer here. I knew Dicksie briefly but have known Becky most of my life. I know how close your family is and how close the sisters are! A life taken way too soon is always so difficult to accept.
