Genealogy research was one of Diane's specialties and that is how I met her. We communicated back and forth about research for quite a few years.....not just about the Haner/Hayner family, but about related families and descendants as well. I can scarcely start to pursue research on any family today without thinking of her, but more than that, Diane was a friend......a friend of good conscience, good intentions, and good deeds, who, I believe left this world a better place by the fact that she was a part of it. Those who knew and appreciated her are, yet today, the beneficiaries of having known her.

As president of the Hayner Family Association for the last dozen years, I was awed by the commitment and support of Diane, longtime dedicated secretary, organizer, editor and genealogist. She always cringed when I suggested she was the foundation while Beth and I, VP and Prez, merely figureheads, emcee and worker bee. Missed by all who knew her enthusiam, positive energy, good sense and diplomacy, we extend sincer condolence to Eric and his family and will find her irreplaceable. Darryl & Beth Klutts

I have known Diane for many years through genealogy research, and a common interest in the Haner/Hayner Association, in which we were both members. Diane, however, took a leading role in the organization, as she was tireless in her promotion of family history, and in doing the legwork necessary to make such an organization meaningful. She was always willing to help others in their research, willing to point toward a previously unthought of direction..........and always, always, with kindness and enthusiasm. My hope is that she is now able to communicate with, and gain the well-earned goodwill, of those ancestors who's memory she so sought to preserve.
