Derek Thompson Obituary

Derek Jason Thompson SUMMERVILLE - Derek Jason Thompson, 36, of Summerville passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Roper Berkeley Hospital. Derek was born on October 17, 1985, in Charleston, SC, son of the late Merritt Thompson and Sandra Murdock. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He received The Army Commendation Medal for saving a fellow soldier. He was an avid lover of baseball and enjoyed nerf wars with his nephew and niece. Survivors include: son, Brayden Thompson of New York; sister, Lacy Harper (William) of Summerville; half brother, Matt Thompson (Sherri) of Columbia; aunts and uncles: Malcolm Murdock of Summerville, Shelia Salvo (Robert) of Johns Island, David Murdock (Kym) of Prosperity, Kenneth Murdock of Chester, Richard Murdock of Dorchester, Sharon Smith (Mike) of Summerville, Brenda Thomason of Summerville, Steven Murdock (Jan) of Summerville, Vicki Haas (Richard) of Omaha, NE, William Thompson (Marie) of Florida; niece and nephew: Evelyn Thompson and Zander Harper; and many beloved cousins. May God bless you all he was a wonderful man I was very lucky to been able to meet him and me and Eve got to go out eat few times with him I pray for you all and keep ur faith in the Lord to help bring y'all during these times .
