To the Reverend Simmons and Family;

What a testimony Denise's life was to so many people as evidenced by the many who arrived to pay their respects at the memorial service and the voluminous comments written here in this guest book.

Clearly, she left an indelible mark on so many of us.

She is and will continue to be sorely missed.

Reverend Simmons & Family:
Our prayers are with you in the loss of your love one. Denise was a lovely person. God takes only his own. Family members keep the faith and keep looking up to the hills from whence commeth your help.

To the Simmons Family. May God bless and keep you in this hour, Denise will surely be missed. You hold to him and be strong and God will take care of you.

To the Simmons Family: I had the privilege of working with Denise for over 20 years. Her smile was contagious and you could only smile and laugh with her when she was around. I would like to thank each of you for sharing Denise with us all of these years. She was truly an angel sent by God to dwell among us for a season. God now has a dynamic angel in his choir. She will be greatly missed.

To the Simmons Family,
I worked with Denise for almost 30 years at both NSC and SPAWAR. I will truly miss the sense of joy she brought to everything she did. You couldn't be around her without smiling. The funeral yesterday was the largest I've ever seen. It clearly showed how much she was loved, and how many lives she had touched. We will all miss her very much. You are in my prayers.

To the Simmons family: I was shocked and saddened to learn of Denise’s passing. I worked with her at the Naval Supply Center. She always had a smile and something nice to say. I remember when Denise sang her rendition of “Amazing Grace.” It gave me goose bumps! She had an amazing voice. I also remember the heartfelt blessings she would say before some of our luncheons. After I left NSC, I’d run into her occasionally and she never changed. Always jovial! Although many people will miss her here on earth, I pray that it will bring comfort that she is at peace with our Lord and Savior. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Words cannot express the sorrow that I feel at this time in the loss of my beloved and dear friend Denise. Denise was one of a kind. She loved to sing, shout, and praise God Almighty for the many blessings He bestowed upon her. She loved life, and tried to live it daily treating others as she would have wanted to be treated. She loved her husband(Vernon) and children, and talked about them proudly all the time. I will truly miss her. Life here on earth will never be the same again without her.

Your mom will be truly missed. I thought back to Praises Salon of Beauty where Ms. Neice got her hair done. I used to sit and stare as Ms. Cecily wash, comb and curl her long mane, from start to finish. It was always beautiful to watch. May the Lord continue to lighten all days. Mrs. Simmons, a wonderful, sweet, kind and talented woman. One who treated me so kind; like family. Every time I saw her around Charleston she'd say, "Michelle we were just talking about you." Even though it had been since Middle School (1989-1991) since I'd spent any real time with the Simmons family. I see her face in my mind and I miss already the next opportunity to see her light up when she recognize me, and tells me she just spoke of me. I send my love to the family who took me in when I was so young, and I send a huge hug to Johnny especially because I'm only imagining his heart right now. Love you guys; and always will.

Deepest Sympathy to the Family. When I heard about your loss, my mind went back to Denise singing 'Jesus Can Work It Out" at Emmanuel Baptist Church. True to the words, Jesus can work it out. The last page of the book in this life for Sis. Denise has been turned, but God has opened another book to another life for Sis. Denise. God knows best what he has in store for use. Jesus can indeed work it out if you let him.

Johnson and Simmons Family: We are so sorry to hear of your loss. My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Denise when we were employed as Government Contractors. She was always fair and her good mood and joyful attitude permeated every thing she did. Bless you.

Mrs. Simmons was like a second mother to me. She took me in as her "child" when she first got to First See Wee... the songs "He Gets My Praise", "Hold On", "I Won't Complain" and many more that she led on the church choir will never be the same.

Mrs. Simmons, I love you and will miss you. I know that you're in a better place watching over all of us with your beautiful smile...

I am so sorry and saddened by the death of Denise, who was a friend and adopted member of our family. However, at the same time, I am comforted that she died in the Lord and is present with Him.
