Deloris Dennis Obituary
Throughout her career, Lois worked as a receptionist at Best Western Hotel and served as a substitute teacher at Hanahan Elementary. However, her true calling was as a Guardian Ad Litem for Berkeley County, a role about which she was most passionate. She was also a proud member of the Kiwanis Club.
Lois found joy in vegetable and flower gardening, fishing with her family, and creating beautiful oil paintings. She cherished trips to Maggie Valley, where she enjoyed her second home, as well as her annual visits to Folly Beach. Cooking for her beloved family brought her great happiness, and she delighted in organizing family reunions for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Deidre M. Dennis of Goose Creek and Melissa D. Billham (Lee) of Moncks Corner; her son, D. Bryan Dennis (Dianne) of Moncks Corner; her brother, Lamar Welch (Marynell) of New Zion; and two grandchildren, Brandon Dennis and Thomas Dennis. She was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Dennis; her sisters, Ella Fare Coker and Eula Mae Tedder; and her brothers, Randolf Welch, Sam Welch, Carlisle Welch, Nelson Welch, Varnell Welch, and John William Welch.
A funeral service in her honor will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Interment will follow at St. John's Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, February 23, 2026.
