Deborah Ritter Obituary

Deborah Smith Ritter CHARLESTON - Mrs. Deborah Smith Ritter, 63, of Charleston, SC, passed away on July 28, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 1, 1951, in Gainesville, FL, a daughter of the late Mildred Cooper Smith and Donald S. Smith. Debbie was a beloved wife for over 43 years and a dedicated mother to her children. She enjoyed most being a homemaker and raising her children. With the children in school, Debbie went to work part-time, enjoying her work as Church Secretary and volunteering wherever needed. She loved making crafts, especially for her church. She cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren and family. Her family remembers her as a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Debbie is survived by her husband, Julian Ealy Ritter of Charleston, SC; two sons: Christopher Ritter of Charleston and David Ritter and his wife, Ying-Ju of Marietta, GA; one daughter, Marijane Brandon and her husband, Jeffrey of North Charleston; three grandchildren: Cole, Julian, and Marie Ritter; one brother, Donald Smith and his wife, Elaine, of Middletown, RI. The family expresses deep gratitude to all who kept Debbie and her family in their prayers. The family will receive friends on July 30, 2014, from 6pm to 8pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel. A funeral service will be held at Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2604 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC, on July 31, 2014, at 11am, with Father Joe Vella officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Fourth Century Fund, 2604 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
