I didn't know Dean - my daughter told me the story of the missing - my husband and I launched our whaler that Sunday morning - we were on a mission to find the missing - after a few hours my husband made me realize that we needed to end our search as the winds from the previous day would mean the larger Coast Guard boats would need to search the ocean - my heart was heavy - I wanted to find the missing boaters -I didn't want to go home.... I'm so sorry for your loss - my prayers are with you.

My heart hurts for the Britt family.... I have worked with his father for years and know God will comfort them and one day give them peace. I will pray for the Britt family.

As neighbors of Maryhelen's when she was growing up and while she and my son Stanley were classmates all the way through school, we feel the hurt being experienced by her and the family and friends in the loss of Dean, although we did not know him. May you be comforted by knowing so many people care and are extending expressions of sympathy. May God bless you all and help you through your grief.

To the Britt family we are so sorry for your loss. There are no words that can comfort you at a time like this. Although we did not know Dean very well, the times he came to our house he was very respectful. I was relieved when he would be there to help Cody work on his car. Dean seamed so confidant and ready to help. I know Cody thought a lot of him and that he will miss him. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing what a helpful and respectful young man he was.

Although we didn't get a chance to meet Dean, we knew of him through Caroline.
I imagine he was an awesome son & brother.

Words fail us in this tragic moment. We are so sorry.

Dean will truly be missed by many. My prayers are with the friends, family, and girlfriend. He would always start his car in the morning or some time during the day. You could always tell when it was him when he was coming home or leaving. He would always work hard at everything he set his mind to. When he drive by he would always have a smile on his face and wave and at the people he knew. No matter what he would always be there to help even if you where a stranger. There are many things that we all truly will miss this is not good bye this is I will see you again. Dean will be looking over us now protecting all of us. He will honestly and truly never be forgotten. He has touched the lives of many and he will always be there with us every were you go.

Dean and Mary Helen, I have been in prayer for your family since the incident happened. No one can comprehend your sorrow of losing a child unless it happens to them. We have no choice but to accept the fact that he is with the Lord, and there we shall be also one day. Together again.

So sorry, Maryhelen and Dean. We have been thinking of you and remembering Dean fondly.

Dean was a great man. He was my best friend in six grade and I will always treasure the memories we had together. He was so kind and could make anyone smile and laugh. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and Charlotte in this trying time. We all now have a guardian angel watching over us. You will always be loved Dean.

Dean was truly a blessing in anyone's life he came in contact with. He put others first and was just such a pleasant presence. I'll never forget the memories I have with him. We were so saddened to hear about Dean. It was a pleasure having him to stay here in Nova Scotia four summers ago. Then he was a pleasant, polite sixteen year old. It sounds like he was growing into a fine young man.
