Hi, Barbara. I'm sorry I didn't get this website til today, not knowing how else to contact you. Sincere condolences to you. I used to be in the North Charleston congregation back in the 90's, and I will always remember Dave and you when you first moved to North Charleston. You both demonstrated such a beautiful, zealous spirit and love for Jehovah and for the congregation. The last time I saw Dave was in 2005 when he helped us build our kingdom Hall here in Laurens, SC. I will always treasure his great sense of humor, but mainly his energy and tireless efforts in support of the kingdom. May Jehovah continue to support you and your family with his loving arms.I beg him to let me be on hand the day that Dave shows back up! I love you. Sincerely, Sis Ria Cunningham

My daughter Ally Dunbar and I had the privilege of working with Dave in the kitchen of the RBC for a couple of years. We will always have very fond memories of him and his Orange Crush that he used in his recipes and always had in the cooler! And also of his bull horn. So sad to hear the news and we are so grateful to know that we have the hope of seeing our dear brother again in the future. Our condolences to the family. Suzanne (Horton) Holman.

I'm so sorry for this terrible tragedy. We can now add Brother Tomlin to the list of faithful brothers who we will see again soon in the Ressurection Garden in Paradise. In a second he will awaken and say, "I'm hungry, what's cooking"...
My prayers are for your family though, as YOU are the ones who must suffer on without him. I hope you will soon find peace.

Sorry to hear of your loss. There are so many memories I have of Big Dave but the one that comes to mind is when we were in Columbia for an Assembly. Our car broke down and out of no where Big Dave showed up and helped us. Big Dave and your family have always been a big encouragement to me, helping me to stay close to Jehovah. I'm sure he had that effect on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed. There is no doubt we will soon see him again and reminisce about old times. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

We will all Miss Br. Tomlin dearly. He was truly a giving man. I will best remember him as he and I sat together on a truck tailgate eating muffins while I watched the Holly Hill K.h. being rebuilt. he was the sort of brother you couldn't help but like. he loved what he did-that's a good life-one we will all soon have. to Sister Tomlin & Family you all know we are one big family under the sun. one day soon, Jehovah will reunite all of us together so we all can sit down and have lunch together. With Love and support, your fellow servants. (Columbia ASL Cong.)

Sorry to hear about the loss of a good brother and friend. Even in this difficult time isn't it great to have Jehovah as our stronghold, He is always there in our time of need. Reflecting on Jehovahs promise to rid the earth of pain and sorrow can bring comfort to us all as Big Dave rest in Jehovahs memory.

I cannot add any more to what others have said about David's wonderful love of people and his enormous generosity. How true it is! Of course, that was driven by his strong love for Jehovah and neighbor! (Luke 10:27) Although I haven't lived there in SC for 20 years the fond memories of being David's (and your) friend will always be with me. You are in my prayers. What a happy day it will be when we see him again! In the meantime always remember that Jehovah will sustain the faithful through any trial.

I remember going to the Ashley River Congregation one Sunday, and it was my first time there. A very nice brother welcomed me. He walked up to me and asked me my name. He then asked me if I was there to hear the bible discourse, and I told him yes. He asked, "Do you know the brother giving the talk?" I replied no. He said," The brother's name is David Tomlin, and he is known for putting you to sleep." I smiled. When it was time for the talk, and the brother was introduced, who walked up to the platform but the same brother that greeted me when I first came in. I was so tickled. After the meeting we laughed about that, and that is how I met brother Tomlin.
Hold on to the memories. It is my prayer that Jehovah's holy spirit comfort you during this time. Continue to look to the future and to the time when we can all say, "Life without end at last."

Dear Dear Barbara and family.
The shock and grief hit all of us hard, but surely the grief you are going through is indescribible. As you go through the different stages of grief, Jehovah will sustain you. The hope we have is so comforting at a time like this.
We have a few good pictures of Dave at the Assembly hall, tasting food and making sure we had some tasty meals. Always smiling and humorous. He will long be remembered for all the love he put into preparing the meals for us.
When I lost John, 14 years ago, The grief didn't hit hard till 2 weeks later. When you need a shoulder to cry on and you will, Don't feel quilty, CRY. It really helps and talk to your closest friend (Jehovah, and an earthly friend too..)That helps too. Our Prayers are with you.
Lots of love, Your Sister.

To Barbara and family,
Please know Barbara my heart is aching for you and the family. Dave will be missed by so many. I know especially at food service in Orangeburg because he was so much fun always making us laugh. He would always have something new to introduce to eat that all enjoyed. It was truly a shock when we heard about his accident. But one sure thing Barbara, we'll be having good times with him again real soon for Jehovah will bring him back with millions of others in his memory to be enjoying each other forever in paradise. Keep this in mind and Jehovah will help you through this trying time as well as all the friends that love you both. Hope to see you at his memorial. Agape, Gloria Mosley
