David Summers, Sr Goose Creek - David W. Summers, Sr, 64, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on March 8, 2019, at Roper Hospice Cottage surrounded by loved ones. He was born on August 5, 1954, in Mobile, Alabama, son of Nellie "Jeane" Jones and Frank E. Summers, Jr. David was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Debra Bursey Summers of Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Dejai (Jim) Summers Kernodle of Blythewood, SC; son, David (Shannon) Summers, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and son, Christopher (Jess) Summers of Ione, CA; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Kernodle, Bryce Kernodle, Chloe Cullen, Talon Summers, Kennedy Summers, and Nolan Summers; brother, Frank "Skip" (Doris) Summers, III, of Younges Island, SC; nephew Jason (Lisa) Summers, Fleming Island, FL; nieces Anna (Andrew) Duff, Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Laura (Tyler) Bax, Portland, OR; parents-in-law, Lloyd (Dawn) Bursey, Hanahan, SC; brother-in-law, Mark (Millie) Bursey, Garden City, GA; and sister-in-law, Lisa (Ryan) Craven, Summerville, SC. David was an elevator mechanic, mason, and private pilot who was devoted to his family and especially his grandchildren. He was an avid football fan of both the University of Alabama and the Carolina Panthers. He shared his love of football, volleyball, hunting, fishing, anchovies, and anything nature related with his children and grandchildren. The family will receive friends on March 11, 2019, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel. A celebration of life service will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home on Monday, March 11, 2019, at 3:00 PM.
