David Siehl Obituary

David Siehl Goose Creek - David Harrison Siehl, beloved husband of Edna Mae (Koons) Boroski-Siehl, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 24, 1946, to David G. and Betty Carol Beckner Siehl. David, who among many in the family was lovingly nicknamed Butch, grew up in Sidney, Ohio, as a talented pianist playing at several local venues and a baseball player with the IUTIS league. He was an avid baseball fan of the Cleveland Guardians, Cincinnati Reds, and Washington Nationals. He enjoyed working as a lifeguard at the Sidney Municipal Pool and other beaches on the Great Lakes and elsewhere in New England. David attended school in Sidney, Ohio, graduated high school from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH, in 1964, and graduated with a major in Economics from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, in 1968. He served honorably in the United States Navy, 1968 - 1972, attended Officers Candidate School in Newport, RI, and was commissioned as an officer earning the rank of Lieutenant. He served his nation on the USS Bainbridge during the Vietnam War as a Naval Intelligence Officer. He graduated from The George Washington University Law School and continued service to his country through employment with the US Railway Association, federal law clerkships, and for 34 years as a staff attorney with the FCC. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Betty Lou Sisson Siehl. He is survived by his loving wife. They were in the same kindergarten class at Emerson School, knew each other growing up in Sidney, and, after both were widowed, were so very happy to reconnect through high school reunions. After their 50th high school reunion, they began to build on their friendship and plan a life together. They were married in June 2017 and lived in Goose Creek, South Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters, Sandy Siehl and Sally (Clark) Elwood; step-daughters, Natalie Boroski Hilton and Sonya (Chris) Boroski Allen; loving step-grandchildren, Elena (Zach Koslap) Boroski, Stephanie (Mark) McCoy, Sloan (Breck) Hilton, and Suzy Hilton; and two days before his birthday this year he rejoiced in the birth of great-granddaughter, Eloise Carter McCoy. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and beloved friends. Devoted to family and endearing to friends, he shared his most kind and gentle spirit. There will be a service for David at the church he and his wife attended, Grace Fellowship Church, 100 Kathryn Drive, Goose Creek, SC, this Saturday, September 3, at 2 pm. A service will also be held in Sidney, Ohio, (date/time TBA) in a few weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shelby County Historical Society, PO Box 376, Sidney, OH 45365 in his memory would be particularly welcome. Arrangements are entrusted to McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 869 St James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

David was our neighbor in Midlothian, VA before and after Edna Mae came back into his life. What a wonderful man and witness to God´s love. We enjoyed knowing them and sharing time with them. We are sure that David is with God. Our prayers are with Edna Mae and the family as they grieve for their great loss.
In Christ´s love,
