David Furmanchik Obituary

FURMANCHIK, David David H. Furmanchik, 44, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away suddenly at his home Monday, March 3, 2008. Dave, as he was affectionately known, had a huge heart and gave unconditionally of his time, humor, hard work and affection to all who came to know him. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. David was born January 14, 1964 in Aliquippa, PA, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew S. Furmanchik, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was the youngest of four children and graduated from Monessen High School, in Monessen, PA in 1982. Shortly afterward he moved to Washington, DC, where he met and married Melissa M. Groves of Vienna, VA. In 2000, David and Melissa moved to Mt. Pleasant to be closer to family here and in Florida. David owned his own successful commercial contracting company, DAVCON, Inc. David was an incredibly loving and devoted husband, dad, son, brother and uncle. Besides riding his Harley-Davidson, dirt biking with his son or shopping with his daughter, he was happiest when he could make a friend, relative or stranger laugh. David is survived by his wife, Melissa; one son, Max, ten and one daughter, Carly, seven; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew S. Furmanchik, Jr. of Mt Pleasant; his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew (Bud) and Jonnie Furmanchik and their children, Andrew, Christian, Joanna and Mary Grace, all of Mt. Pleasant. He is also survived by his sisters, Rebecca J. Furmanchik of Chicago, IL and Debra F. Brown (Furmanchik) and her husband, Howard and their two sons, Rudder and Kep Brown of Sullivan's Island, SC. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Richard and Beverly Groves, of Palm Coast, FL, his sister-in-law, Debbie Smith and her daughters, Julianna and Heather of Alexandria, VA, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at 1:00 pm Thursday March 6, 2008 at Christ Episcopal Church, Mt. Pleasant, SC. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. The family will receive friends at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 409 King Street, Suite 300, Charleston, SC 29403 or Christ Episcopal Church Building Fund, 2304 N.
