David Brinson Obituary

BRINSON, II, David MADISON-David L. Brinson, II, age 77, died at home on Sunday, May 15, 2005, surrounded by his beloved family. Dave was born on October 27, 1927, to Aline and David Brinson, and grew up in Walterboro, South Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Alaska. While a boy, Dave turned a job as a caddy into a lifelong love for golf, which he shared with the love-of-his life, Doris. Dave and Doris would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this September. Dave began his career as a sheetmetal worker at the Charleston, SC shipyards, going on from there to work in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, until retiring in 1983. He was a proud member of Sheetmetal Workers Local 18. Dave is survived by his devoted sons and golfing companions David Brinson, III (Judi Gaskell), Pittsburg, PA; Darrel Brinson, Cottage Grove, WI; and daughter Diane (Bob Spector) Brinson. Dave adored his grandchildren Meagan Brinson and Ethan Brinson Noles; Matthew Brinson and Stephanie (Patrick) Fuller; and was blessed with great grandchildren Molly and James Fuller. Dave also is survived by his devoted sister Jeannette (Thomas) Berry and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary LaLiberte, brother Donald Brinson and grandson Colin Noles. Dave's faith in God was unwavering and he was a member of Luther Memorial Church. Funeral services will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11a.m. on Thursday May 19, 2005, with the Rev. Timothy Dean presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Dave's family expresses gratitude for the kind care provided by St. Mary's Hospital and the staff of HospiceCare. We were proud of the gentle man who was our husband, father and grandfather and will miss him greatly. Visit our guestbook at www.charleston.net/deaths.
