Dave and I were colleagues at Naval Facilities Engineering Command. NavFac organized a mentoring program with Garret High School for at-risk students. The mentees were often from low income, single parent homes and had good potential but under performing in their academic pursuits.
A request for volunteers was issued. Dave did not hesitate to volunteer which demonstrated his passion to help the least of these. Mentors would meet at school to talk about school matters and life and sometimes, take the kids off campus for lunch. The mentoring team would occasionally meet to share our experiences with the mentoring team. Dave always had an encouraging story to share with the group about his interaction with his mentee. Dave made a difference!
Linda, Melissa, and Alison, please accept my condolences to you

David was one of my favorite coworkers at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. We always had fun on the job, traveling for work assignments or having lunch together. He was a very gentle soul who was always fun to be with. I offer my most sincere condolences to Linda, and to David's extended family.

Please accepted Areta and my condolences for your loss. I remember Dave from our old shipyard days. He was always a great guy and would help others.
