He was a well read individual who had a great sense of humor and always good to hang out with he will be missed sadly by those that new him well

I couldn't believe it when I just heard. You were my childhood best friend. Growing up next door to you was awesome. So many memories and good times . Thank you for that.

Daryl, Diana, Dustin, and family...my heartfelt condolences about DJ. I am very saddened by this news as I thought about him often, (his name came up just hours before I got this sad news...I was telling my kids how DJ and I dressed one time for Halloween) and was able to catch up with him a few times as we got older.
The last time we hung out for a few hours (Five Guys Burgers and a visit to Laurel St) we reminisced of the years we spent a lot of time together, which began when he invited me to Riverside Park with his family. We were close after that. We were in Scouts together, went on our own backpacking adventures, started a neighborhood lawn care business together, stayed overnight in Hartford to get Prince tickets, went to Disney with his family, slept over all the time (DJ had the 1st waterbed I´d seen)...He also used his karate on me when we´d start scrapping and I got more than one black and blue arm from his bony knuckles. We watched Michael Jackson moonwalk for the first time on live tv. He was good at saving money and soon we were sitting in his Mustang, in the garage, waiting for the day he got his license. These are just a few of the good memories I will remember DJ for.
To his family, your home was an oasis to me, a place where I felt safe. I´m forever grateful for including me in your activities and life at that time. The Monkes will always be special to me.

My fond memories of DJ revolve around fishing in the farm pond, getting acquainted with the ponies...
