Danny Rummans Obituary

CWO3 Danny Charles Rummans, US Navy retired, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, August 29, 2025, in a local hospital in North Charleston, South Carolina, with his devoted friends by his side. He was 76. Born in Dexter, Iowa, Danny was the son of Charles LeRoy Rummans and Dorothy Arlene Smeltzer Rummans. A proud Vietnam War veteran, he served his country with honor and distinction, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 during his dedicated career in the United States Navy. Danny lived a life marked by independence, loyalty, and a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in fishing, target shooting, and restoring old cars-each hobby a reflection of his patience and craftsmanship. His true passion, however, was sailing. Over the years, he owned several sailboats and spent countless hours navigating open waters, where he felt most at peace. A member of the National Rifle Association, Danny valued tradition and personal freedom. Though quiet by nature, he formed lasting bonds with those who knew him well. He is survived by his close friends David Kilgore and David Manderville, whose steadfast companionship was a source of comfort and strength throughout his life. A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday morning, September 4, 2025, at Florence National Cemetery in Florence, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice, in keeping with Danny's spirit of personal conviction. Danny's legacy lives on in the memories of those who stood beside him-in service, in friendship, and in quiet moments on the water.
