Daniel Walker Obituary

Daniel James Walker Jr. Charleston - Daniel J. Walker, Jr. entered into eternal rest on October 15, 2018. Daniel was born in Lakeland, Florida on September 28, 1924, the son of the late, Daniel J. Walker and Fannie S. Walker. After his first wife, the late Francis Walker passed, he was blessed to find the 2nd love of his life while they both resided in Ashley Park Retirement Home. In 2007 he married Evelyn J. Walker. Daniel proudly served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon separation from the Navy, he attended the University of South Carolina and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951. Mr. Walker was a retired accountant for OK Tire Company of North Charleston. Daniel loved animals. He was a blessing to Evelyn and to all of us. He always had a positive attitude no matter how much the Alzheimer's disease affected his mind. He was loved by all his caregivers. He and Evelyn were blessed to have stayed at Ashley River Plantation and then moved to Ashley Gardens as his disease progressed. We thank all of his caregivers. Daniel, 94, was survived by Evelyn Jones Walker his wife of 11 years, step-son, Morelle C. Jones (Rhoda), step-daughter, Paula J. Spivey (Michael), grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We often kidded Daniel that he was the oldest man other than Storm Thurmond to have children. When he married Evelyn he got both children and grandchildren. Other survivors include two nieces, Sandra D. Smoak (David), Debra D. Kmetz (Frank), a nephew Denis Davidson (Emily), and many great- nieces and nephews. Daniel was predeceased by a sister, Julia W. Davison and a brother, John Walker. The family will receive friends Friday October 19, 2018 from 1:30PM-2:30PM at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 2:30PM in the Chapel. Entombment will immediately follow the services in Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Services entrusted to Carolina Memorial Park Funerals and Cremations, 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406, 843-797-2222. Online condolences can be made by visiting www.carolinamemorial.com.
