Daniel Smith Obituary

Daniel "Danny" Smith CHARLESTON - Daniel "Danny" Christopher Smith, 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 2, 2024. Danny was welcomed with open arms by our Heavenly Father. Danny was born September 8, 1962, to Luther and Virginia Smith and was one of 7 children. Danny was preceded in death by his Dad; his brothers, Mathew "Matty," and Steve; nephew, Jonathan David Kennedy; sister-in-law, June Smith; and brothers-in-law, Austin Kohl, Don Schlag, Ralph Davis, and Bob Heydrick. Danny is survived by his two loving daughters, Haley Elizabeth (Lane) and Kendall Marie of Central Florida; his sweetheart, Camille Martin Maull of James Island, SC; Diesel (adopted child - his dog); his Mother, Virginia Smith of North Charleston, SC; his sisters, Janine Heydrick of Casselberry, FL, Rebecca Smith, Paula Kennedy and Lillian Davis of North Charleston, SC; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Danny filled his life with an admiration for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for the simple things - family, friends, and football. He found solace near the Charleston waterways and the Blue Ridge Mountains. He had a love for the outdoors, whether it be riding his motorcycle, watching the sunset or simply being at his new property cutting grass. He loved the challenge of hands-on work, whether fixing an engine, rebuilding an old truck, or building something new, and shared that passion with those around him. He was raised in the loving community of Ashley River Baptist Church where he learned of God's love for him. If you knew Danny, you loved him and felt loved in return. After serving in the Marines, Danny worked as a Service Manager at Allen & Webb and was a vital part of operations for over 40 years. He loved his job, co-workers, as well as customers. Thank you to our family at Allen & Webb. Above all - Danny was the Best Dad, Partner, Son, Brother, and Friend to all who knew him. The family wants to thank everyone for their prayers, love, and support. Visitation and Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, at Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 pm. and the Celebration of Life Service from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Memorials in Danny's name may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or organizations that support cancer patients and their families.

So sorry to hear this, my condolences to all of his family. I've known Danny since we were 11 years old, from C.E. Williams Middle School right on up. Through work I've dealt with Danny for most of the 40 years he's been at Allen&Web, so we never lost contact. He fought a good fight, RIP my brother in Christ...

Mrs. Smith, Lillian and family; I was so sorry to hear of Danny's passing. I was at my Church when I got the news. I immediately said a prayer for his family I will always have fond memories of a lifetime of friendship. Everything from the days that he worked at Carmichael's to Carolina games (I went even though I was a Clemson fan), swimming in the ponds in Hickory Hills with other friends to just hanging out and talking! Danny was always a great friend. God Bless you all. I will keep you in my prayers!
