I am terribly sorry to hear of your loss. Dan used to be my father-in-law, a shipmate, a friend and a great mentor. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the Rice family as well as my prayers. Dan, I will NEVER forget the great times we had and smile each time I think of you. I still remember how happy you were when you met Cindy and what a happy time that was. Please know that you all have a friend out West - always. Miss and love you man.

Casey & Family;
I will not tell you that things will get better after a death of a parent, but just think that he is in a better place looking down on his children and grandchildren. He will always be in all of your hearts. You will always think about him when you see something or doing something that is understandable. I will pray for God to give you and your family strength during this time of sorrow. We will say a little prayer for you and your family. Your Friend, Faith Crane NCRD City of North Charleston

Dan was such an inspiration to everyone. His perseverance and strength were qualities that shinned through the last few years of his life but his kind heart and sweet spirit are the qualities that I will remember him best for. It was a pleasure knowing him and seeing him live his life to the fullest. He will be remembered forever and live through the hearts of all the lives he touched so deeply. He was a great man. I’m praying for his family and know that Dan will send some of his strength to ya’ll in South Carolina from Heaven in this time of grief. Love ya’ll and God bless!

One of my fondest memories was when Dan, Cindy and myself took a road trip to shinglehouse, PA on the way up there the three of us sang and laughed and had the best time. Dan got a kick out of pushing me and Cindy down the hill on a sled together we were a sight to see. Dan could always put a smile on my face and he always told me I looked good no matter what I looked like that day. He will be missed by many friends and family. my thoughts and Prayers are with Cindy and the Family.
