My dearest Nancy and Summer -I am sitting here reading the wonderful messages sent by friends of Dan's and i am sure you both will find some comfort in reading about the respect and love and admiration that others had for Dan. I, too, have my special memories (especially the Easter egg hunts in your back yard many years ago). What fun we had! Dan was so special in so many ways. I had planned to visit you while in Charleston this past week, but had to return to VA unexpectedly this past Monday. I will be calling you soon, however,
Day by day may the light of your memories diminish the shadow of your sorrow.

"SGT Moorer" was a wonderful Command Sergeant Major "from the old school." Many of my fondest Guard memories are from the time he was CSM at Mt. Pleasant - one in particular was with him, in a trying time. May God bless you all, Ricky Archambault

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about Dan. Dan always had my utmost respect and admiration as a friend and outstanding soldier. It was I, you may recall, who hired Dan to work for the National Guard in the Mt Pleasant armory. I never once regretted that decision and he always performed his duties in a magnificant manner. I wish more than anything I could be there to express my feelings for Dan in person, but recent bouts of vertigo prevent me from making the trip. You have my heartfelt sympathy, and rest assured I will raise up you, Dan and your family in my prayers.

Nancy,
Time has a strange way of bringing people back together. I met CMD SGM "Dan" when I was accepted into the Washington Light Infantry a little over a year ago. We laughed about all the times I egged his house as a delinquent kid growing up in Parkwood Estates. He was a wonderful man, and I'm sure he was also a wonderful husband and father. My wife, Jacquelyn and I have our thoughts and prayers with you and your family during this time of great loss!

Nancy and family. Caldwell and I are so sorry for the loss of Uncle Dan. I know it is very hard to let him go, but remember, he is in the hands of God, and in Heaven there is no pain or suffering. Caldwell has told me so many stories about Uncle Dan that made me laugh, I only wish all of us could have spent more time together so I could have gotten to know him. Family is so important and when they are lifted into Gods arms from this earth we have to look to the memories to help us go on. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers today and always

Dear Nancy and family,
I am truly sad that Dan has left us. He was such a delight to be around because he was always upbeat and joyful. He made me feel good and he appreciated the life that God gave him by setting the example of how people should be treated. That smile and sense of humor he always projected was his crowning glory. What a legacy he has provided for all to follow. Have solace that Dan will be waiting for us in the future , but we will miss him until we meet again. God Bless your family.
