DANIEL McCOY Obituary

Daniel Edward McCoy SUMMERVILLE - DANIEL EDWARD McCOY passed away on September 27, 2024, as a result of injuries received from a work accident at the Mount Holly plant of Century Aluminum Company in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Dan, 61, was born on January 30, 1963, in London, Ontario. The fifth of six children, he is predeceased by both his mother, June Porter McCoy; and his father, Donald McCoy. Dan was dearly loved by his family, Sharon McCoy, his wife of 28 years, and their daughter, Kayla Daniel June McCoy. Dan also leaves daughter, Michelle Anne Bretton, and granddaughter, Jacqueline Elizabeth Kline. Dan and Sharon met in Florida, living in the Acreage in the West Palm Beach area for decades, before moving to the Summerville area of Dorchester County. Dan was hard working and dedicated to Century Aluminum and his coworkers. Dan was loved by many, willing to give the shirt off his back to friends and strangers alike. He was always a giver, never looking for anything in return. Dan's passing is a great loss to all those his life touched and those who had yet to meet him. The family requests your thoughts, prayers and understanding. There will be a celebration of Dan's life at Riverland Church, 205 Grandview Drive, Summerville, South Carolina, on Wednesday October 2, 2024, at 5:30 pm. A memorial service in Florida will be scheduled at a later date.
