Daniel Martin Obituary

Daniel Wayne Martin JACKSONVILLE, FL - Daniel Wayne Martin, age 71, passed away at the McGraw Hospice Center on September 2, 2009. Danny was born on August 15, 1938 in Charleston, SC, the only child of the late James M. Martin and Mary Edna Martin, age 98, of Jacksonville. Danny was a graduate of North Charleston High School and Clemson University. He spent his working career in pharmaceutical and advertising sales. He was an avid and supportive sports fan of the Clemson Tigers and the Florida Gators. His personality was warm and fun loving and his family and friends enjoyed his quick wit. Danny was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Joan, with whom he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary on August 22, 2009. Also, surviving are his son, David Martin of Jacksonville and his daughter, Mary Beach (Richard) and grandsons, Dylan and Justin Beach, of Tampa. A memorial service is to be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at GEORGE H. HEWELL AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 4140 University Boulevard South, in Jacksonville with Dr. James "Pop" Williams of NE Florida Community Hospice officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date in Charleston, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Daniel's name to Community Hospice of NE Florida or the Florida Baptist Children's Home, 2300 Bartram Road, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
