Mrs Lane,
Your husband made a difference in the world. He mattered to his fellow Marines, to his family, and to the other Veterans (like my dad) who were with him at the end.
God Bless him for his humor and for his courage and for his stamina. Janice and I offer you our best wishes. He has gone to a better place.

Mrs. Lane:
We visited Dan every week. He never had a lot to say, but he appreciated us dropping by his room, because he always told us that he did. It was an honor to have known Dan. We will miss him.

It was an honor to know and work with Dan ... as a Marine, he will be remembered for his strength and courage. As a friend he will be remembered for his sense of humor and his courage in the face of his illness.
