Daniel Garrison Obituary

Daniel Moorer Garrison FLORENCE, SC - Daniel Moorer Garrison, 93, died peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Methodist Manor. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Conway, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Mr. Garrison was born in Florence, a son of the late William Ervin and Mary Emutral Cooley Garrison. He graduated from Florence High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy. During his twenty-year career in the Navy, he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1960. Following his military career, he worked with the U.S. Government until his retirement. Mr. Garrison was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence, and served as a deacon from 1997 - 1999. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge #234 and a member of Gideons International. He was also a member of Fleet Reserve Association. He was predeceased by his wife, Isla Mae Allen Garrison; four brothers, William E., Jr., James J., Charles M., and T. Fred Garrison; and two sisters, Frances G. Graham and Sophie G. Ginn. Survivors include a brother, Rogers C. Garrison, of Florence; and several nieces and nephews, including Daniel G.
