Daniel Gardner Obituary

Daniel Scott Gardner FT. COLLINS, CO - Daniel Scott Gardner (26), Beloved son of Scott and Linny Gardner and loving brother of Sarah and Gwynne Gardner, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 31, August 2013 after an ATV accident while camping with friends in Wyoming. Daniel was born 4 December 1986, Little Rock AFB, AR. He lived around the world, as his father was a Chaplain in the U.S. Air Force. After high school graduation (2005) and working for a year, he joined the U.S. Army in 2006. He served at Ft. Hood, TX and in Camp Taji, Iraq as a Specialist (E4), in the 4th Infantry 2-4 Aviation Division. He and his fellow 92 Foxtrots were aircraft refuelers. After serving his country, Daniel stayed on reserve status and used his GI Bill to complete his education in Ft. Collins, CO at IBMC (Institute of Business and Medical Career) and will receive his medical assistant degree, posthumously, in October 2013. Daniel was known for his bright and vibrant smile, his amazing hugs, his positive attitude, and his kindness to others. He loved his God, he loved his family and friends, and he loved his country. We will miss him dearly, but know we will see him again in Glory. His memorial service will be held at the Charleston AFB chapel on 7 September at 10:30 am. Daniel is survived by his parents Scott and Linny Gardner (Hanahan, SC), his two sisters Sarah Gardner (Lynchburg, VA) and Gwynne Gardner (missionary in Celje, Slovenia), and many extended family members who loved him dearly. The Gardner Family would be honored if you would like to give a gift to the Wounded Warrior Project as a memorial to their son Daniel. We know that Daniel, himself an Army combat veteran, would want gifts in his memory to be used on behalf of those who served and sacrificed for our country, as he did. The Neuberger family would like to offer its condolences to our dear friends the Gardners. Yes, we remember when we first met you all, and particularly Daniel...the youngest of that clan but the one with an enormous amount of energy! Love and laughter: yep, that describes a fine young man. We had many wonderful times in Germany and France with you all and we share your loss with the deepest of sympathy.

Sweet Daniel, I remember so many young stories when we first met you in Charleston AFB! A young 7 year old full of curiosity, wonder, and spunk....Most of all, I remember your tender heart. We were so blessed to know your family and share life together. Our girls grew up with you and your sisters....at times I thought I had 5 children! Through the years I watched you grow up to be the man you were meant to be. That tender heart grew with passion for this great country! I was so proud to have you in our home after you got out of boot camp....I'm still laughing at your antics as you described your gunny sergent! When we took you to Ft. Hood, I remember thinking what an honor it was to know THIS SOLDIER! A pride that only grew deeper as I followed the stories our girls shared....Now you are in Heaven, a reality that is like none other! I know I will see you again thanks to our great Savior, but know that you will be missed here on earth! You are so loved!
