Daniel L. Floyd JAMES ISLAND - Daniel L. Floyd, 78, of James Island, husband of Loyce Floyd, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Daniel L. Floyd was born on August 10, 1936 in Evansville, IN to the late Adolph Floyd and the late Bessie Floyd. He was a former financial consultant and comptroller with Solaris Properties on Kiawah Island, SC. Dan was also a US Navy Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He later served in the SC nation guard during the mid-seventies. In addition to his wife Loyce, survivors include 3 sons, Daniel L. Floyd, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant and his wife Sharon Floyd, Andrew Joseph Floyd of Stafford, VA and his wife Elizabeth Floyd, and Patrick Stephen Floyd of Edisto Island; 2 step-daughters, Sheri Urquhart of Wilmington, NC and Kellie C. Mitchum of Summerville; 4 grandchildren; Savannah Floyd, Christopher Floyd, Hannah Floyd, Olivia Floyd; 6 step-grandchildren; Jason Miller, Megan Mitchum, Alex Urquhart, Andrew Urquhart, Halley Mitchum, Gabby Urquhart. Mr. Floyd was one of 11 siblings. Dan was predeceased by a step-son, James Crawford, Jr. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 3-5pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10am at Harbor View Presbyterian Church, 900 Harbor View Road, Charleston, SC 29412. Burial will be at Beaufort National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11am.
