Cynthia Washington NEW YORK, NY - Cynthia Washington, of New York, NY, entered into eternal rest on August 1, 2022. Cynthia, affectionately known as "Cemp" to her close friends and family, was born in Charleston, SC, on January 28, 1955. Cynthia spent her childhood in Charleston, SC, on James Island, where she graduated from James Island High School, and attended St. Augustine College in Raleigh, NC. Cynthia would soon move to New York City, where she was employed by Barnard College of Columbia University for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Washington and Albertha Kirkland Washington and sister, Johnette Magwood. Those left to cherish the beautiful memories they shared with Cynthia are her loving son, John Cody Washington of New York, NY; brother, John Edward (JD) Washington of Charleston, SC; sister, Patricia Ann Lawrence (John) of Alexandria, VA; brother, Earl Washington of Charleston, SC; sister, Lashae Woodall of Athens, GA; brother, Tyrone Washington (Melissa) of Charleston, SC; a dear sister-in-law, Janith B.
