Cuthbert Samuel "Sam" Gleaton, III MT. PLEASANT - Cuthbert Samuel "Sam" Gleaton, III, age 70, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on September 2, 2017. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 8, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant located on 681 McCants Drive. Sam Gleaton was a disaster relief volunteer for the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Sam loved to volunteer, minister, and to teach the word of the Lord. During the summer, Sam was in treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. During that time, the people of Houston welcomed the Gleaton family with their love and generosity. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the South Carolina Baptist Convention. If you would like to donate, please go to SCBAPTIST.ORG to help in the Hurricane Harvey disaster relief effort. The Gleaton family would like to help give back to the people of Houston for all the kindness they showed to Sam and his family during his treatment. Sam Gleaton served in the United States Army, worked for the Department of Defense, and was an active member of First Baptist Church and worked with the Spanish ministry, the prison ministry, and was a deacon. Sam Gleaton is survived by Margaret T. Gleaton, Jennifer M. Gleaton, Cuthbert S. Gleaton, IV, Samuel Dennis Gleaton, Gaye G. Brown, Kenneth A. Brown, and Leah B. Shackleford.
