Craig Little Obituary

Dr. Craig Newell Little HENDERSONVILLE, NC - Dr. Craig Newell Little, 66, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, husband of Tina McCuen Little, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel. Craig was born September 16, 1958 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, son of the late Jean Myers Little and Martha Coppedge Little of Spartanburg, SC. From a young age, Craig saw the world through the lens of biology, with an enduring curiosity about how things live, grow, and heal. This led to a distinguished career in oral surgery. However, his love of science was never confined to just medicine. Craig and Tina turned their attention to planting a vineyard and building a winery, Stone Ashe Vineyard & Winery, in the mountains of North Carolina. Craig saw viticulture as the perfect blend of science, nature, and biology in motion. This opportunity to keep learning, to work with nature, and to create a legacy from the ground up is what underlined Craig's passion and purpose. More than a new venture, the vineyard was a living reflection of his values: hard work, patience, and curiosity. It was here that he was happiest - outside and alongside his wife, his three sons, their wives, and the family dogs. This was a place he created, where his love of science met his love of family, and where his legacy will continue to grow with every season. In addition to his wife, Tina, of 14 years, he is survived by his three sons, Heath, Harrison, and Hudson, his mother, Martha, his siblings Myers, Ellen, Lynn, and Leigh, his nephews, Matthew and Trey, and his niece, Hayleigh. Memorial contributions may be made in Craig's memory to his alma mater, The Citadel: "In memory of Dr. Craig Little '80'" The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409. I met Dr. Little a few years ago for a dental procedure. His care and personality were amazing. I teased him each time I saw him by calling him "cousin"! Our last names being the same. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Craig's passing. Craig and I were room-mates freshman year at The Citadel. He was just a great guy, generous and kind, funny and with a good attitude. He helped me to get through that year and continue on to graduation. My prayers for his family, may he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I was a Citadel Classmate from 1980. My thoughts and prayers are with Craig and his family at this difficult time.

I was ahead of Craig at The Citadel, but he was ahead of me at our General Practice Residency at Palmetto Richland Dental Clinic in Columbia. I also have fond memories of his professionalism and humor, his humble approach to dealing with the stresses of dentistry, especially specializing in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He bailed out a lot of general dentists who were having surgical difficulties. Just a great guy who is now with his Lord and savior! God's healing peace to the entire family.

This is so very sad. Craig was the sweetest, kindest man. My heart breaks for the whole family.

Craig was a great professional neighbor and colleague, a genuinely kind person who loved working outdoors. I remember him trimming trees and bushes around the office on weekends. So it was no surprise that when I visited Stone Ash, I found him working on a garbage can to keep the bears out!

He always laughed at my rants about being a young doctor and a new manager. He was a grounding presence during those early, chaotic days.

All the many patients he treated loved him not just for his skill, but for his gentle demeanor. He will be deeply missed, but I´m grateful for the time I had the privilege to know him.

I am so sorry for your loss. Craig and I roomed together for two years at the Citadel, and he was truly one of the finest men I ever knew in my life. All of his Citadel classmates and I are deeply sadened to learn of his passing and all of you, his family, will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers as you walk through this time.

My sincere condolences to Tina and your family. I swam with Craig at The Citadel. We had many good times together at meets and team events. I was in the Class of `81 but saw Craig over the years at football games. Very sad to hear of your loss. We are keeping the Little family in our prayers.

My sincere condolences go out to Tina and family.
I first met Craig our freshman year in dental school at MUSC in Charleston in 1981. Four of us (Craig, Russell Boatwright, Stan Sheftall, all Citadel guys) and myself a Clemson grad, which made us the four C´s on our cadaver in our Anatomy Lab. We became close friends and I was in his wedding in school. Craig was very smart, kind and gentle. Our class was a close class but as time goes on, we all have drifted apart except for some small groups of us.
Though those times seemed like some of the toughest times in my life , they were some of the most special times I´m in my life in which he was a very special person and friend. I wish we could have gotten together more through the years.
May he rest in peace.
