To the Corey's family,
You have my deepest sympathy. I worked with Corey for about 9 years.It was such a pleasure to meet him and get to know him! He would always have a smile on his face whenever you saw him.He was a kind, gentle, quiet soul. Always humble never judging or confusion starting. I remember talking to him many times and he was always pleasant and peaceful.He was a natural born leader professional and respectful.He served our department well with his leadership.I remember being happy for him when he got promoted. He loved his kids always talking about them and working hard to provide for them.YOU GIRLS SHOULD BE PROUD! He fought a mighty battle and never complained.I will remember him smiling and laughing.Corey we will miss you and think of you often R.I.P.

SGT Roper was an amazing courageous young man who was the utmost professional leader within the S.C. State Ports Authority Police Department. He was a positive influence and an inspiration to all officers. He taught us all a lesson of leadership and integrity just by being himself. It was an honor to have known him and worked with him. May all those who love him find comfort in his memory.

He was in his room and I stop by to introduce myself and at that moment, I knew something was special about him because he had his Bible next to his bed. He and I instantly became friends for life. One thing I knew about Corey was that he could drive... Oh, how we would race around Orangeburg and he would always say "Lets Ride".. Well this is one ride we can't take together but its a road I have to follow. I know without a shadow of a doubt Corey has cleared the way for me...

I remember Corey when he first came to work. He read the Bible and we talked about things. Corey was always a friend you could depend on. He was warrior too never letting his health condition affect his personality. He didn't complain and show lots of restraint and harmony to people. When I heard he had pass the other day I questioned why it happened to him and it hurt me. One thing I do know that our Father in Heaven has made him a great place in Heaven which he so much deserves. We all can learn from Corey because he displayed a great person and had lots of faith and wisdom in him. He was a great leader and has left a great impression on everyone who knew him. My sympathy goes to the family through this awful time but find comfort that God has him and that Corey will be with you heart and soul forever.
