Clifton Miller Obituary

My father, the late Rev. George A. Thomas, was a close friend of Rev. Miller. They often talked during the early morning hours at sunrise. They invested in their friendship over the years. Their example of friendship remains with me today.

Cherishing the memory of Rev. Clifton Miller,

We remember the hands that hold God's word
And fold in prayer to seek His will.
We remember the feet that walk the path
And offers of praise as from lofty hill.
We remember the hands that serve Him well,
The ears that seek to hear His call,
The mouth that speaks truth and wisdom,
The busy feet that carry the message to all.
We remember the heart that was priked and entered
When God's man answered the gospel call
And yielded His life as a humble servant,
A man who was willing, as was Apostle Paul.
We remember all of this and his stand in the pulpit,
As an instrument through which God speaks
The words of wisdom, of love and peace,
To lead and guide all those whom God seeks.
We remember a servant, pastor and aid,
One who was better God never made; A wonderful worker,
so loyal and true, one in a million, that person was you.

It is good to remember a great friend to our family. Rev. Clifton Miller was a witness when I got married. He and my Dad would talk most days in the early hours of the morning after Dads devotion time. There friendship endured time and distance and meant so much to my father, the late Rev. George Thomas. George Thomas. For many years, they would speak to each other by phone every morning. This friendship blessed the Thomas family and we are grateful to God for the life and legacy of Rev. Miller.

May the peace of God and the promise of eternity give you comfort. While we have tears in our eyes, we share in the joy of knowing to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

To the Miller family, please accept my sincere condolences. Rev. Clifton Miller was a very excellent pastor and mentor to many with his still quiet voice tone. He was a friend to all that knew him and admired him. I met Rev. Miller in 1995 at the South Carolina Annual Conference where I was appointed pastor of Mt. Nebo AME Church in Adams Run,S.C. I transferred from the Columbia Annual Conference and Rev. Miller greeted me with openness and love. After I told him who I was and gave my hometown he told me that he and my father were friends for many years. I find Rev. Miller to have been very congenial, kind, loving, and caring to all people.

Rev. Randolph Miller, I share with you in the loss of your father who was a wonderful person. Be strong my brother and may GOD heal you and your family with love, peace ,and joy during this bereavement period. Your father will be well remembered within our Zion and may we profit thereby from knowing the Rev. Clifton Miller a great comrade and friend to all.

Rev Miller shared words of wisdom for many of years and is unforgettable. He is now one of the many guardian angels.

I send my deepest sympathy to the beloved Miller family. Rev. Clifton Miller was my first pastor, as I was born into the Trinity AME Church family. He taught me the foundations of life. Therefore, I definitely stand upon his shoulders. He lived a beautiful and well preserved life. I pray that all of us will reflect upon the good memories of Rev. Miller. He certainly was a memorable guy!
