Claude del Mas Obituary

Claude Raymond del Mas CHARLESTON - Claude Raymond del Mas entered into eternal rest on August 29, 2023. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Claude was born April 27, 1933, a son of Claude and Catherine del Mas in Hugo, MN. He grew up in Hugo where he met his wife of 65 years, Jewell. Claude, joined the Navy in 1952 and retired after 32 years of service. He was trained as an Engineman and attained the rank of Master Chief which he held for 16 years. Claude was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devout Catholic and a decades long member of Knights of Columbus in which he served many years as an officer and Financial Secretary. Claude loved to tell stories of his past and could talk to anyone. Claude was predeceased by his wife, Jewell; and his daughter, Claudia Umphlet. He is survived by five children: Robert del Mas, Bruce del Mas (Emily), Denise Oliver (Tim), Jeff del Mas (Michele) and Claude del Mas, Jr. (Janet). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
