Clarene Canaday Quattlebaum Harleyville, SC - Clarene Canaday Quattlebaum, 98, widow of John L. Quattlebaum, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 06, 2018 at Trident Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Harleyville with Rev. Terry Heirs and Rev. Andy Newell officiating. Burial will follow in the Harleyville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Quattlebaum, John Price, Don Pendarvis, Andy Pendarvis, John Lee, Andy Newell, Lynn Creel, Rob Douglas, Miles Knight, Mike Knight, Mike Thomas and Cooper Quattlebaum. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George. Clarene was born on August 10, 1919 in Dorchester County, a daughter of the late Andrew Willis Canaday and Estelle Hilton Canaday. She was a graduate of St. George High School, worked for the Dorchester County Department of Welfare from 1935-1943, Westbury Red & White for 20 years and Harleyville Insurance Agency for 23 years. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Harleyville, church Treasurer and Sunday school teacher for 35 years and was active in Missions work. She was predeceased by siblings Myrtle C. Fry, Wilbur S. Canaday, James Donald Canaday and a foster sister Billie C. Looney. Surviving is her son, John (Linda) Quattlebaum, Bowman; three daughters, Patricia Q. (McLeod) Murray, Summerville, Linda Q. (Ivan) Price, Winston Salem, NC and Sylvia (Tony Hodge) Pendarvis, Harleyville; grandchildren, Susan (Andy) Pendarvis, Frank (Jennifer) Quattlebaum, Lisa (John) Lee, Kim (Andy) Newell, John Price, Kristin (Rob) Douglas, Candi (Lynn) Creel and Don (Sheri) Pendarvis; great-grandchildren, Rachel Pendarvis, John Quattlebaum, III, William Quattlebaum, Sally Lee, Nathan Lee, Murray Newell, Caleb Newell, Anna Grace Newell, Jackson Douglas, Brodie Douglas, Hannah Creel, Kaitlynn Creel, Lauren Creel, Gunner Pendarvis and Dalton Pendarvis. Mrs. Clarene was a beautiful person. I have so many sweet memories of times spent at her home. Truly, a southern belle. My love and prayers go out to her beautiful family. I pray that your precious memories will surround you during these days. Love you all.
