THOMAS, Clarence Entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 16, 2009, Clarence Thomas, husband of Barbara Thomas. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thomas are invited to attend his funeral service in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Twelve Noon. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. Friends may call at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel on Friday, between five and seven. Clarence B. Thomas was born November 24, 1922 in Horry County, SC to James Lenox Thomas and Martha Viola Lewis Thomas. He resided in Goose Creek, SC for the past 45 years. He served in the Navy during World War II. He then went on to work at the Charleston Naval Shipyard until he retired in 1979. Throughout his life Clarence was an active member of his current church Riverbluff Church formerly known as Midland Park Baptist and prior to that was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Goose Creek. He served the Charleston Baptist Association for many years as brotherhood director and royal ambassador's director. He was the construction superintendent for the building of the current First Baptist Church of Goose Creek in 1972. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara McMichael Thomas, of Goose Creek; his children, son, Barry Thomas and daughter-in-law Brenda of Highpoint, NC; son, James Thomas and daughter-in-law Susan of Goose Creek; daughter, Candace Thomas Arant and son-in-law Mark of Wilmington, NC; son, John Thomas and daughter-in-law Denise of North Charleston. He was grandfather to seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Lucille Annibale and brother-in-law, Alfred of Horry County; and a brother, Henry Thomas and sister-in-law, Jo of Columbia, SC. Clarence will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Above all these things he will be remembered most for being a man of God, strong in his faith. He is now resting in the arms of God. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Riverbluff Church 5421 Riverbluff Parkway, North Charleston, SC 29420.
