Clarence Ray Obituary

Clarence C. Ray, Sr. MONCKS CORNER - Mr. Clarence C. Ray, Sr., age 86, widower of the late Mrs. Pearl Perry Ray, of Moncks Corner, passed away at his home Wednesday morning, June 3, 2009. Friends and family of Mr. Ray are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday morning, June 6, 2009 at 11:00 am at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive guests at the funeral home this evening, Friday, June 5, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and from 10:00 am until the time of service on Saturday. Mr. Clarence Cecil Ray, Sr. was born in Jefferson County, AL to the late Mr. Clarence Ray and the late Mrs. Lennie Bessie Jones Ray. He proudly served his country in WWII earning the Bronze Star for his bravery. He retired from The American Tobacco Company in Charleston after many years of employment and retired from the Naval Shipyard after being employed as a Machinist for over 20 years. Mr. Ray was an avid hunter, fisherman and farmer. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Survivors include his son Clarence C. Ray, Jr. (Sydria) of Port St. Lucy, FL; three daughters, Mildred 'Millie' Scarborough (Larry) of Goose Creek, Lennie Bessie 'Lynn' Ray of Charleston, and Casandra 'Cassie' Morgan of Moncks Corner; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, the late Pearl Perry Ray, his parents, two brothers, the late Luther and Howard Ray, and two sisters, the late Ruby Locklear and the late Margaret Ray.
