Clarence Koester Obituary


KOESTER, SR., Clarence Clarence E. Koester, Sr., 77, of Duluth died Thursday, the 6th day of July, 2006. Mr. Koester was a retired Division President with ARAMARK. A native of Charleston, South Carolina he began his ARAMARK career as a food service manager trainee in 1949, and received numerous promotions throughout the years including Director of Dining Services, District Manager for North and South Carolina, Regional Operations Manager, Regional Vice President and Southern Area President. In 1982, Mr. Koester was named President of Campus Services where he was responsible for the overall management of 25,000 employees at more than 300 colleges, universities and preparatory schools worldwide. Mr. Koester made customers partners and that was his legacy to his company and his industry. Mr. Koester was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church, The Cherokee Town and Country Club, and Merion Golf Club, Philadelphia, PA. Surviving are his loving wife of sixty years, Beverly B. Koester; sons, Larry Louis Koester of Columbia, SC, Gene Koester, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Paul R. Koester of Atlanta, Gregory Koester, Sr. of Miami, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda Koester Long and Ken Long of Troy, MI, Cynthia Koester Green and Buff Green of Clayton; and the grandchildren, Andrew Green, Jordan Green, Ashley Whitehead, Jonathan Whitehead, Gregory Koester, Jr., and Sean Koester. Memorial services will be held Wednesday the 12th day of July at one o'clock at St. David's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund at St. David's Episcopal Church, 1015 Old Roswell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. Express tributes by visiting www.mem.com.
